SAY HI

Hi! I'm giacinta frisillo (b. 1982, Massachusetts; Glasgow School of Art MLitt Fine Arts 2019, UK Global Talent Artist Visa). I'm an artist and educator living in Glasgow. Some of my favorite solo exhibitions include Sky//Cielo, Kiosk Gallery, Glasgow (2023); Unspoken Desires, Glasgow (2021); and The Oasis, Skypark Donated Gallery, Glasgow (2019). My work has also been included in numerous group exhibitions internationally including in Switzerland, Taiwan, and New York.

My community-based work in and around Glasgow spans writing, art, and education, with migrant populations, especially those with experience of the asylum system, people who are incarcerated, and young people with experience of the care system. I developed “ESOL through Art”, a curriculum using art and traditional crafting to support English language learning while offering a relaxed atmosphere for those who have experienced trauma.

Residencies, including the print-specific Franz Masereel Zentrum, Dumfries House, and Cel del Nord, as well as grants from Glasgow Life and Hope Scott Trust, have been central to my development and practice.

I am based in Glasgow's Southside. My studio is generously provided by Outer Spaces.
